Supporting people living with low vision or blindness to access their community through Orientation and Mobility Services.

We provide personalised Orientation and Mobility services to empower people living with blindness or low vision — to build confidence, increase independence, and stay connected to their communities.

Orientation and Mobility O&M

Providing Orientation and Mobility services for people living with blindness or low vision to meet their goals and increase their independence to access the community confidently and safely.  

Services include:

  • Assessment and recommendations for mobility aids including long canes, Identification canes and Support canes.

  • Safe travel training in familiar and new environments

  • Long cane skills development

  • Route planning and independent navigation

  • Techniques for crossing roads, using public transport, and accessing community spaces

  • Orientation strategies for new environments, including home, school, or work.

  • Public transport training

  • Human Guide training for family, friends, supports and work. 

  • Beach and bush travel, public transport, and indoor navigation

  • Advice and training for safe mobility while using a 4 wheeled walker.

  • Environmental accessibility.

These NDIS services are provided under Capacity Building

Services are available to self managed and plan managed NDIS participants

Services

Social Support /Community support

Providing social and community support to access services and community connections.

Services include:

  • One-on-one social support

  • Assistance with community access and participation

  • Transport with Door to door service.

These NDIS services are provided from Core funding.

About Karyn

Karyn is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist. She has over 25 years working in the disability field including Orientation and Mobility, Case Management, Inclusion Support, Family Services Coordinator and Developmental Education qualifications.

Karyn has worked with all age groups and is dedicated to help people increase their independence, community participation, confidence and to achieve their goals.

Karyn loves the opportunity to support people to remain connected to the community and build confidence with their mobility.
